“The street is the river of life of the city, the place where we come together, the pathway to the center”  - William H. Whyte.

To my dear friends of Wilson, North Carolina, US 2018

My artist residency in Wilson in December 2018 is one of the most challenging experience so far. For more than one month I walked the streets from dawn to dusk exploring every corner of town, stepping into many doors, public and private, and letting my eager curiosity and instinct guide me. I had no idea what was awaiting me, nor did the others. Every day, it was new hunting, unexpected encounters, and amazing discoveries. Wilson welcomed me and hugged me warmly. I photographed people having great courage, deep despair and faith, and strong hopes for the future. And I let the story of my work develop itself. And eventually, my body of work has turned into a close relationship with many people whose life touched mine forever.
